Agadir, -dir, -dir. All Inclusive, Stuff my Face!

After a slightly longer than usual flight from Manchester Airport, we arrived at the White Beach Resort Taghazout Agadir. The resort is located on a stunning stretch of beach, with rolling waves and golden sands as far as the eye can see.

We were immediately impressed by the resort's contemporary architecture and lush, fragrant gardens. We were told the resort had only been open a year. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they quickly showed us to our room. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a private balcony overlooking the ocean - the perfect spot for morning coffee and evening cocktails!

After settling in, we headed to the resort's bar for a nightcap. We were not too surprised to find that the drinks were served in small measures, but they were delicious, and being all-inclusive, we could of course go back for more (which we did!). We also indulged in the endless sandwiches and pastries that were on offer - the perfect midnight snack.

Our room provided us with an excellent night’s sleep - we both woke up feeling fully rested and excited to see the beach and the resort in the daylight.

The next morning, we woke up to a delicious breakfast buffet. The buffet featured a variety of local and international dishes, so there was something for everyone. We spent the rest of the day chilling out on the resort's comfy sofas, watching the surfers riding the waves and the camels strolling along the beach. It was so surreal!

We're here with our good friends Sarah and Phil, who have been to this area before. When they offered us a chance to come along, we couldn’t say no to a bit of December sunshine, especially given what the UK’s autumn weather has been like this year - wet, wet, wet!
We spent most of the day relaxing on the outdoor sofas facing out to the sea, before enjoying a lovely evening stroll along the beach. We even saw some clifftop fishermen casting their lines and, of course, more camels!

The following day, we returned to the beach, this time for a morning stroll. Once again, the beach dogs were out in force and being super friendly. Their energy and enthusiasm for playing was infectious as they raced along the beach chasing each other. Sadly, James experienced an encounter with one rather over jealous dog that will require a shot when we get back home to be on the safe side.

Breakfast was another lovely affair, and James and I believe we can now call ourselves Breakfast Buffet Experts. We've become quite skilled at navigating the delights on offer and returning with a plate that is actually quite healthy and not too heavily laden with sugar or carbs!
The days here are spent mainly by the poolside, soaking up the Moroccan sunshine, which at this time of year is really pleasant - around 23°C. With unlimited drinks and food snacks available, it is tempting to overeat, but I found that diving into some good books on my Kindle keeps me away from overdoing it. So far, I've gone through three books!

One evening, we ventured out of our hotel complex down to the casbah - a historic fortress perched on top of a hill overlooking Agadir port. The history of this area is rather complex, with many battles and wars shaping the role and nature of the place. These days, it is clear the authorities are looking to develop the area into a tourist destination, with plans for water parks and more retail opportunities.
We ascended to the top of the hill to the casbah in a cable car - naturally opting for the VIP experience (free drinks and the ability to Bluetooth your own music to the cabin’s speakers while you rode!). At the top, we were greeted by more camels, which really did complete the picture with the Moroccan fortress in the background. We timed our visit to ensure we saw the sunset, and the colours and light that ensued as the sun went down did not disappoint.

We ventured out again the following day but this time just across the road from the hotel. We had booked a relaxing massage for all of us. No holiday would be complete without a bit of pampering! Just up a side street off the main road, among a row of shops, mini-supermarkets and hairdressers, we found our massage parlour. A group of charming ladies escorted us to our rooms, where we enjoyed a deep tissue massage that was very relaxing - even with the sound of heavy building work crashing around next door!
Our holiday was coming to an end as quickly as it began. We have had a very relaxing and stress-free trip and the winter sun and sand was just what we needed at this time of year.

I would recommend the resort to anyone who just wants to get away and be beside a pool. The surrounding area doesn’t have a lot to offer at this time, so you would need to be prepared to venture quite far afield and go deeper into Morocco if you wanted to experience the country more.
