Southern France [22 May - 02 June 2024]

Day 1: Bristol - Marseilles We're off again - it seems so long since we were on a plane! Just a short two hour hop from Bristol to Marseilles to start a lovely 10 day trip around the region. After picking up the hire car from just outside the airport, we drove to the beautiful and unusual town of Roussillon. It's known for its ochre cliffs, which come in a variety of dramatic colours, ranging from ochre yellow to fiery red. These colourful cliffs are the result of millions of years of erosion, exposing layers of ochre-rich sand. The town sits upon these cliffs and you get the most spectacular views over the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. On our arrival, and after settling into our hotel, we took an evening stroll around the town. It was so quiet - like a ghost town! Nevertheless, its beauty shone through. For our evening meal, we enjoyed the most wonderful dishes at one of the town's most popular restaurants where the cuisine was definitely French thro

Day #01 - And Away We Go!

After months of planning and even longer dreaming, the day has finally come when we hand our lives over to a (hopefully) well crafted itinerary and begin the adventure of a lifetime (this blog is going to be filled with clichés so you might as well get used to it now!) So... I am typing this as we sit in the departure lounge at Gatwick airport (London) for our first flight that will take us to Orlando, Florida. The USA is the first of 10 countries on our trip so I am excited to have a well stamped passport at the end of this!😂 You can see the full list of intended destinations on the Itinerary page .

Day #72 & #73 - Halfway! Where Did That Day Go?

Christmas arrived at the hotel! So two days' blog posts for the price of one today. Why? Well, today was a transit day where we were travelling from Tahiti to New Zealand. This means we crossed the international date line and went from being about 10 hours behind our friends and family in the UK to being about 12 hours ahead. We suddenly jumped from Saturday morning into Sunday afternoon. While the principle is straightforward, its practical implications really do screw with your mind. Luckily, we let the travel agent take care of this phase of the trip and so all our flights, hotels and connections went smoothly.
